The Loft House draws inspiration from the earthy and modest flat-roofed mud huts that populate most of rural Pakistan. As a weekend farmhouse getaway, an important goal of this project was to simultaneously pay tribute to and modernize our traditional farmhouse structure.

To achieve this earthy yet modern aesthetic, innovative and internationally recognized materials were used instead of conventionally used materials such as local stones, tiles or marbles. Combining the earthy tone mineral finish with facades of towering glass and aluminium, the overall impact is a unique mix of modernity and harmony with nature.

The house is named after the completely glass encased loft bedroom in the large double heighted living room, visually highlighting this oft neglected part of modern homes.

This project was specifically designed as a shared space for different members of a large family to use as a weekend home. It is meant to provide a restful and invigorating atmosphere for older family members, as well as sufficient excitement and entertainment for the younger. As a shared-use space, the house and property cater to a myriad of different interests.

The external appearance of The Loft is a merger between the Antiche patina mineral finish of Novacolor Italia and the bronze finish aluminum and glass of Schuco Germany.

The L shape pools in the private back garden range in depth from 1 meter to 1.9 meters. Lined with therapeutic Bali stone, the meeting point of the two pools is highlighted with a jacuzzi featuring 12 Astral Pool body jets.

As the day and night differ, so does the exterior of The Loft House take on a different quality when the sun sets: the soft beige façade gives centre stage to the deep blues of the night sky and Bali stone, illuminated by 3000k warm landscape lighting.
